PICK 3'S

The Pick 3 requires handicappers to select the winners of three consecutive races; a serial bet. The Pick 3 can be an excellent exotic wager for talented handicappers, characterized by reasonably strong chances of winning and generous payoffs.

The recommended Pick-3 strategy treats the three races in the sequence as a trio of Pick 3s. In each combination, a key horse in one leg is linked to the contenders in the other two legs. One of the key horses must win, and the contenders in the other legs must prevail. If two of the key horses win, and the contenders in the other leg come shining through, handicappers can collect the Pick 3 twice. I like that. At times the three key horses will win in succession and now handicappers collect the Pick 3 three times.

Playing the Pick 3 In this way makes sense whenever one of two situations arise:

1. An odds-on favorite is false or vulnerable.
2. A key bet to win is a non-favorite.
